Colored Contacts Prescription Verification

As a contact lens seller, CCUS puts consumer health and safety first. Under the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act (FCLCA), we verify every prescription before shipping colored contacts to customers in the United States. Here’s exactly how the process works — and how to make it as fast as possible.

Contact Lens Being Placed Near The Eye During Prescription Verification

How the Verification Process Works

You provide your prescription details, we submit a verification request to your prescriber, and your prescriber has eight business hours to respond. If they don’t respond in time, the prescription is verified automatically and we can ship your lenses.

1

Submit Your Prescription

Provide your prescription info at signup, at checkout, or by email — including your prescriber’s name and contact method.

2

We Contact Your Prescriber

We send a verification request directly to your prescriber and wait up to eight business hours for their response.

3

Order Ships After Approval

Once verified (or auto-verified after the window), we process and ship your order right away.

Three Ways to Submit Your Prescription

When You Create an Account

Sign up on colored-contacts.us and upload a valid copy (photo or scan) of your prescription in your account profile.

At Checkout

Upload your prescription photo or scan directly in the shopping cart when you place your order — quickest and easiest.

By Email

Email the photo or scan to [email protected] with your name and order ID, and we’ll attach it to your order.

The Eight-Business-Hour Rule

A business hour is one hour between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays, in your prescriber’s time zone. If your prescriber has regular Saturday business hours, those hours may also count.

Request receivedResponse due
10:00 a.m. Monday10:00 a.m. Tuesday — order ships 10:01 a.m. Tuesday if unanswered
10:00 p.m. Monday5:00 p.m. Tuesday — order ships 5:01 p.m. Tuesday if unanswered

We count the first business hour after the prescriber receives a complete verification request, and end the window eight business hours later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to verify my prescription?

U.S. regulations require a valid prescription for all contact lenses, including zero-power cosmetic lenses. Verification protects your eye health and is required by the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act (FCLCA) for orders shipped to the United States.

How do I submit my prescription to CCUS?

Three options: upload it when you create an account, upload it at checkout, or email a photo/scan to [email protected] with your name and order ID. Include your prescriber’s name and contact method (email or phone) so we can verify quickly.

How long does prescription verification take?

Your prescriber has eight business hours to respond after we send the request. If they don’t respond within that window, the prescription is verified automatically and we can ship your order.

What happens if my prescriber doesn’t respond?

The prescription is verified automatically after eight business hours, and we may provide the contact lenses. You don’t need to do anything — we’ll process your order as soon as the window closes.

What if I don’t have a contact lens prescription?

Book an eye exam with a licensed eye care professional near you. Once you receive your prescription, simply submit a copy to us and we’ll handle the rest. Plano (0.00) decorative wear still requires a valid prescription.

Can I order colored contacts without a prescription?

No. U.S. regulations require a valid prescription for all contact lenses, including zero-power cosmetic lenses. Choose 0.00 at checkout if you have no vision correction, and we’ll verify your details before shipping.
