Megumin Cosplay Contact Lenses: The Midday Sun Test
A wide red witch hat and a bright red eye, shot in hard noon light. A big brim plus direct sun is the classic way to lose an eye colour completely.
The brim is the problem
At midday the hat brim drops a hard shadow across the brow, and the upper iris disappears. The lens needs to be bright and clearly saturated to survive what is left of the light.
Tilt, do not tip the hat back
Pushing the hat back changes the silhouette. Tilt the chin up slightly instead, and let the light come in under the brim. Same hat, same shape, and the iris catches light again.
Keep the hat in the frame
Half the character read is the hat, so crop wider than you would for a normal portrait. Just make sure the crop does not push the eyes off-centre.
Confident and a bit smug
This character is proud of her one big trick. A level stare with a small, self-satisfied smile works better than a wide grin, and it keeps both eyes visible.
The review we hear most
“Tilted the chin up under the hat and the red eyes came back in every frame.”
