Woody Cosplay Contact Lenses: The Golden Hour Test
A wide brim, a red bandana, and a warm brown lens. Almost everything in this cosplay is warm, which makes the eye colour both easy and easy to lose.
Why a warm palette is a trap
When the hat, the bandana, and the shirt are all in the same warm family, an amber eye can merge into the whole picture. The lens needs to be a touch deeper than the fabric so the face still has a focal point.
The brim and the light
Golden hour light comes in low, which is good — it gets under the hat brim instead of being blocked by it. Turn slightly so the light rakes across the face and lands in the eye.
Keep the white in frame
The pale shirt collar and the light hat band break up the warm palette. Keeping a little of that light near the face stops the eye from washing into the skin.
Friendly, not posed
This character is open and a little mischievous. A relaxed, slightly crooked smile reads better than a big grin, and it keeps the eyes fully open.
The review we hear most
“Warm hat, warm shirt, warm light — and the eyes were still the thing people noticed first.”
