Johnny Joestar Cosplay Contact Lenses: Hat Brim Shadow Plus Squint
A wide hat brim plus a determined squint is a great look on paper and a disaster in practice. Both of them throw shadow straight across the eye, and a pale blue lens is the first thing to disappear.
Why the shadow wins
Johnny Joestar cosplay contacts sit right in the worst spot for a hat: the brim shades the brow, the lid shadows the iris, and the colour drops out of the frame. Add a narrow squint and there is barely any iris left to read.
Tilt, do not lift
Do not push the hat back to fix it. Tilt your chin up a few degrees and let the camera sit just below eye level. The brim stays exactly where it belongs and the light finds the iris anyway.
Keep the blue cold
The lens should stay cool and light rather than drifting grey. A pale blue with texture in it will hold under shadow far better than a flat, pale disc that turns into a highlight.
The squint is the point
The narrow, focused look is what makes this character read. Keep it, and just make sure the catchlight is bright enough that the eye never turns into a dark slit.
The review we hear most
“Brim shadow killed my first shoot. Tilted the chin up for the second and the blue showed up in every frame.”
